Troubleshooting Investigative Analysis

Marine lubricating oil can become contaminated by unwanted particles in the form of Carbon deposits, by-products due to oxidation and metal particles as a consequence of abrasive wear.

Ship operators need on board methods to be able to filter and recycle contaminated lubricant while at sea. This is done in stages using mechanical filters and purifiers. The first stage is through settling and filtration and then followed by separation through high speed centrifugation.

It is crucial that these purification systems are performing reliably and effectively and so it is important, therefore, to regularly monitor their effectiveness. VPS through their “Before and After” Purifier OCM service can help achieve this.
